Deputies make arrests in heroin case

Four people were arrested following the surveillance of a home in Carriere, by Pearl River County deputies, Donnie Saucier, Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator, said.

The department had received a tip that drugs were being sold from the residence, Saucier said.

“Our department received information that Jason House, 29-years-of-age and residing at 137 Bass Road, in Carriere, was selling heroin from his residence,” Saucier said. “The residence was put under surveillance and during that time deputies observed a van that was driven by House and occupied by the three others, leave the residence.”

The narcotics investigators observed House run a stop sign at Bass Road and George Wells Road, Saucier said.

“At that time they observed the passenger, who was identified as Troy McClain, age 36, with no address available, throw an item out of the van. Investigators followed the van, but one stayed behind to retrieve the item that was thrown,” Saucier said. “The investigator retrieved the item, which was a writing pen and found it to contain a small bag of heroin inside. He called in to other officers who then conducted a traffic stop.”

As a result of the investigation, Saucier said all occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

“McClain was arrested for possession of heroin; House was arrested for traffic violations; a passenger who was identified as Alecia Mills, age 32, residing at 112 Essex Court in Picayune, was arrested for an outstanding bench warrant and a passenger who was identified as Lindsey Wilson, age 25, residing at 83 Bass Road in Carriere, was arrested for possession of the controlled substance suboxone that she had on her person,” he said.

At that point the investigators got a search warrant for House’s residence at 137 Bass Road, Saucier said.

“As a result of the search warrant, they located inside of the residence a plastic bag with a white powdery substance,” Saucier said. “There were also numerous baggies with corners cut off, typically used in drug distribution, several used syringes and a big sword.”

Saucier said that House, a convicted felon, is prohibited from having weapons in his possession. He was additionally charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He also was additionally charged with possession of heroin based on evidence recovered.

Circuit Clerk of Court Vickie Hariel said that House has a previous conviction for possession of a controlled substance from May of 2010 and a previous conviction from November 2012 for possession of a controlled substance.

Grace Fisher, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Corrections reported the department has a warrant for House’s arrest.

“We do have a warrant as of January 21, 2014 for Jason House for violation of probation,” she said.

House had been sentenced on November 20, 2010 for possession with intent, Fisher said. House was given 298 days credit for time served and paroled in December of 2013, she added.
