Funeral Services for Doris Laverlyn “Lynn” McCoy, 88 of Raymond, Miss., who passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 11:00 am at Union Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Union Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Union Baptist Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Dr. Bill Baker, Dr. Brad Arnett, and Rev. Brian Tatum will officiate the services.

Doris Laverlynn (Lynn} Baker was born, January 9, 1925 to Klice Baker and Delma Dillard Baker. Her birth place was, Ingomar, in Union county. She grew up in and around Ingomar and finished high school in the Ingomar High School. She worked as a telephone operator in New Albany for five Years and then attended Clarke Memorial Baptist College in Newton. It was here that she met Rev. George Arnett McCoy. They were married, June 18, 1949. She took some classes at Louisiana Baptist College in Pineville, La. along with her husband. She also took some classes at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She received her B.S. degree from Mississippi Baptist College in Clinton.

She taught sixth grade in the Rankin County , Calhoun County and Pearl River Central school districts. She taught for 14 years in public schools and three years in Christian schools. She was also very active in the churches that her husband pastored. Lynn was a member of Union Baptist Church for 44 years.

She and Rev. McCoy did mission work in ten states and several foreign countries. .

She is survived by her husband, Rev. George Arnett McCoy, two children, Paul McCoy and Lynnette McCoy Walsh; two grand children along with their spouses, William (Bill) McCoy & Tyanne and Kelly McCoy Tuttle & Timothy; two great grand children, Samuel and Sara McCoy. She is also survived by one sister, Grace Childers and one nephew, Dr. David Childers.

She will be greatly missed by her family and a multitude of friends.

The Family requests that instead of flowers that the monies be given to either the Philippine Mission or Bibles for the India Mission.
