Picayune Police officers and narcotics detectives arrested four suspects in separate cases for drug related offenses.

One of those three cases occurred on Oct. 30, when officers responded to a call of a suspicious person sitting in a vehicle outside of a local hotel.

Officers responded and located the vehicle, finding 49-year-old Chris Jopseph Gisclair of 5112 Mt. Rushmore Rd., Marrerro, La., inside, according to reports filed with the department.

Gisclair was asked to exit the vehicle, at which time a search of his person located a bag with a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle, the report states.

He was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, the report states.

In a case worked on Nov. 1, officers with the department were advised that what appeared to be gunshots were heard in the area of Winn Dixie on Highway 11 in the city limits. Officers responded to the area, but were later advised by dispatch that the suspect vehicle was seen in the middle of town.

The report states that the vehicle was later found traveling on Fourth Street near North Main Street. After speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, later identified as 44-year-old Chad Byron Burton and 33-year-old April Jeanne Giroir, both of 456 Wildflower Circle in Lumberton, it was determined that the sounds of gunshots were actually from a car door slamming shut. No gun was found in the vehicle, the report states.

While initially speaking with the two, Giroir gave the officer a fake name, and Burton was found to be in possession of a white powdery substncae later identified as crushed xanax pills. In the vehicle the officer found a straw with a white powdery residue under the seat where Burton was sitting, the report states.

A field test was unable to determine what the residue on the straw was.

In Burton’s wallet, the officer found two films of suboxone and in Giroir’s purse a spoon and a metal cup containing foil was found, the release states.

Burton was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, while Giroir was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and providing false identifying information to a police officer, the report states.

A separate case worked on Nov. 4, involved a call about traffic being blocked by a vehicle on Interstate 59 near the Mississippi Welcome Center.

Officers responded to find a vehicle parked in the left hand lane, with the driver, identified as 33-year-old Shane C. Bledsoe of 601 West Canal St. asleep in the driver’s seat, a departmental report states.

After waking Bledsoe and running a check of his driver’s license, it was found to be invalid. He was then searched and determined to possess a bag of a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine, leading to his arrest for felony possession of a controlled substance and obstructing traffic, the report states.
