Thoughts from the Confederate flag

Published 7:00 am Friday, November 20, 2015

I fell to the ground many times. Then my soldiers’ blood would fall on me. I started with the First Brigade in Virginia, when Lincoln sent an attack on my soil. I fell I thought was my last time at Gettysburg, cut down by Grant’s sharpshooters.
Now it is 2015 and again, why do they want to take me down? Oh, Lord. So many great men waved me in the air. General Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson and so many of the souls of soldiers and slaves who died for me are now all ignored. Why do they want to take me down, oh Lord?
Think of the Southern people’s heritage. I have nothing to do with hate, but ignorant groups have already misused me. So I know it may be too late. It seems that African Americans hate me and want me out of sight, but by God’s grace, I won’t go quietly in the night.
The Confederate flag speaks.
