On December 15 at 3:31 p.m., deputies with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department responded to 193 Sycamore Rd. in a reference to a crash involving a Picayune School District bus and a 3-year-old child, Lt. Joe Quave said.
“Upon arrival, deputies learned that the child had been taken to Highland Community Hospital and was later flown to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, La.,” Quave said. “The child suffered serious injuries and is currently in stable condition.”
According to Quave, the child was struck by the front of the bus, as the vehicle was leaving the home’s circular driveway.
At this time, Quave said the crash is still under investigation, but appears to be an accident so no charges have been filed.
