Mary Frances Smith, 68, of Hattiesburg died at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, in Meadville, MS.
She was born in Houston, MS September 1, 1946 and died in Meadville October 15, 2014.
Her father John Griffin, her mother, Ruth Griffin and a son Paul H. Smith, proceeded her in death.
Her husband Rev. Bevon J. Smith, of Hattiesburg survives her. Also surviving is her daughter, Beverly Dawn Smith, of Oak Grove; two sons, Benton J. (Joey) Smith (Christian) and Stephen Duane Smith, of Hattiesburg; one grandson, Culley Paul Smith, of Hattiesburg; and a brother, Wayne Griffin (Patsy) of Starkville.
She was a graduate of Starkville High School and attended Mississippi State University. She was a very popular and active student at Starkville High as well as her home church, Starkville Church of God.
She met a young preacher by the name of Bevon Smith at a church youth camp in 1962 and they later married on September 5, 1965. Along with her husband they have served as pastors of Trinity Heights Church of God in Hattiesburg for twenty-three years. She faithfully served with him in pastoral ministry for over forty-nine years. During their Pastorate they also served in Picayune, MS, Charleston, MS, Jackson, MS, St. Louis, MO and Greenville, MS.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Heights Church of God from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014. Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Trinity Heights Church of God. Interment will be in the Murray Hill Church of God Cemetery, Poplarville, MS.
At the request of the Smith family memorials may be directed to the Smith Family Memorial Clinic located in Chennai India, in care of Trinity Heights Church of God in Hattiesburg.
