On August 15, an individual was robbed at gunpoint at a Picayune ATM.

Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said officers were dispatched at 3:19 a.m. to a local convenience store to meet with a complainant in reference to an armed robbery. 

The complainant stated that at around 3:10 a.m. he pulled up to a local bank on Memorial Boulevard to withdraw money from the ATM, Magri said. 

Magri said the complainant stated that when he pulled up to the bank he observed a few dollar bills lying on the ground next to the drive-up ATM.

He told officers that he exited his vehicle, picked up the bills and got back in his car, Magri said. 

The complainant stated that he made a withdrawal from his bank account and backed up his vehicle to make sure he didn’t drop any money, Magri said. 

It was at this time, the complainant stated, that two black males came from around the side of the bank, Magri said. 

Magri said the complainant told officers that one of the male suspects was wearing a ski mask and holding a pistol. 

The complainant said the suspect pointed the gun in his face and told him to give him all of the money, Magri said. 

The complainant told officers he threw the money out of the window and sped off, Magri said, and drove to the convenience store where he notified the police department. 

“Detectives are actively working the case and reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to identify the suspects,” Magri said.
