Louise Pharr Howell, of  Picayune, Miss., passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the age of 97.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Picayune.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 1-2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Pastor Chris O’Brien will officiate.

A native of New Iberia, La., she attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana at Lafayette and received her Nurses training at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, La. Louise was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Picayune, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in the Women In the Church. She was a Charter Member of the Picayune Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and delivered Meals on Wheels to the homebound for many years.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, John Newton Pharr and Louise Taylor Pharr; her husband, Dr. James M. Howell Sr.; her sister, Eunice Pharr Ward; her brother, Newton T. Pharr; and her son, James Marcus Howell Jr.

Survivors include: her children, Mary Louise Megehee and husband James, Martha Simonton, and John Albert Howell and wife Cindy; seven grandchildren: James Marcus Howell, III, James Megehee, Jr., Susannah Megehee Moore, Matthew Simonton, Marcus Simonton, Taylor Simonton, and Miriam Louise Howell; nine great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; five nieces; and one nephew.
