A Carriere woman was charged with residential burglary after her vehicle bogged down in her attempt to get away with a stolen appliance and tools. She was apprehended at the tow yard when she arrived to pick up her vehicle with the stolen items still inside.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex located on Telly Road, Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

Officers conducted an investigation, on May 29, in response to a complaint by a complex owner, who noticed the crime when he arrived at the apartment to maintenance work. At that time he discovered someone had broken into one of his units and stolen a hot water heater and tools, Magri said.

Through the investigation, it was learned that the suspect, identified as Emily Jackson, 21, of 32 Stone Hollow Trace, in Carriere, was the owner of a vehicle that bogged down at the complex while removing the items, Magri said.

Jackson had to call a tow truck to remove the vehicle, which was taken to a holding facility, Magri said.

The officers located the vehicle in the tow yard, with the stolen hot water heater and tools still inside, Magri said. While officers were at the two yard, Jackson arrived to pick up her vehicle and was taken into custody for residential burglary, Magri said.
