We the public (people) have been lied to and have no idea where our taxed monies have been spent. All could not have been spent on the wars.

First: the federal taxes paid in the years we worked; were to run the country. Or so I thought and with any luck some left over.

Second: social security and Medicare taxes paid; were to be put into a trust fund for later use, by only those who contributed. Now everything goes into the general fund to be spent on whatever was a good idea at the time.

The only good idea I can think of; buy all elected officials a hearing aid so they could hear the voice of the people.

Our elected officials in Washington must have sharp pencils with good erasers, plus deep pockets as money just appears to vanish into thin air. I’m sure all could pass a lie detector test with no problem.

I thought I voted for an adult, but it turns out all are children wanting their way or teenagers wanting to spend! spend! spend! that money. Neither group knows the definition of compromise or how to work together. The lack of interest in anything other than themselves resulted in the emotional blackmail of others.

The emotional blackmail the seniors, past and present service members went through not knowing if they would get a monthly check for Aug. was unreal. Not a pretty picture for the world to see, America not taking care of their men and women they sent off to fight in the wars.

No wonder the public has lost faith in the people we put in office and their ability to correct the many problems facing us now.

Don’t forget with cuts to education you kill America’s future.

My motto come election time will be out with the old and in with the new. I’m sure I won’t be the only one, young or old with that motto.
