The dust has settled, and it’s a little clearer on this Wednesday morning who beat whom in the supervisory races on Tuesday, and from the unofficial but complete returns all the races are still up in the air. No one garnered a first-primary victory.

In the District One race, Vernon Culpepper outpaced a three-person Republican field, garnering 66 percent of votes cast to win a first primary victory over Fornea Spiers and Dallas Hook, but Culpepper will have to face a formidable opponent, long-time veteran supervisor and supervisor board president Anthony Hales, Sr., in the Nov. 8 General Election.

Hales beat Democrat challenger  Jimmy Buckley in a landslide on Tuesday, garnering 86 percent of votes cast to Buckley’s 14 percent with 100 percent of votes counted. Results quoted here are unofficial but complete. Hales got 647 votes to Buckley’s 109.
