A blown transformer caused a power line to fall, knocking out power to about 1,680 electric meters in the Coast Electric coverage area.

Coast Electric communications specialist Melissa Bryant said the outage was reported at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday. When crews went to check out the problem, they found a downed power line caused by a blown transformer in the area of Winn-Dixie north.

Crews had power restored to most homes and businesses by 1:40 p.m. Areas affected by the outage included Sycamore Road, Cooper Road and the Roseland Park area, Bryant said.
