An undercover operation Wednesday afternoon led a charge of prostitution against a Nicholson woman.

Anonymous tips led the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department investigations team to believe that Janice A. McNeese was selling narcotics and engaging in prostitution. That investigation led to the arrest of the 26 year-old Nicholson resident.

The investigation began at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when an undercover officer contacted McNeese to form a case against her. Capt. Donnie Saucier said the undercover officer contacted McNeese at her residence, 140 Clyde Meitzler, Lot 11, where she indicated the officer should meet her.

McNeese got into the car when the undercover officer arrived and asked him to drive to Carriere so she could attempt to purchase narcotics, Saucier said. When that attempt failed, McNeese asked the officer to drive her back to her house.

At her home, McNeese negotiated with the officer, offering him sex for $40. She also gave the undercover officer a small bag containing two hand rolled cigarettes believed to contain marijuana. At that time the under cover officer gave the signal for law officers outside the home to arrest the suspect.

McNeese was charged with prostitution and transfer of marijuana, Saucier said.
