A Saucier woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2006 shooting death of her boyfriend.

Kimberly Michelle Beard pleaded guilty to manslaughter Monday as she was preparing to stand trial in the slaying of 50-year-old Jesten Phelps.

Prosecutors say Phelps’ body was found in the home the couple shared on Oct. 7, 2006. Prosecutors say Phelps had been shot six days earlier. The couple had three children.

Prosecutors say the shooting occurred during an argument.
