Attorney General Jim Hood says a Gulf Coast man has pleaded guilty to failing to support his child.

Hood said in a news release that Elmer McDonald of Picayune pleaded guilty to felony child desertion in Harrison County Circuit Court.

Hood said he was sentenced to five years, with five years suspended and five years post release supervision, in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections.

McDonald owes $10,000 in back child support that he may repay.
