The accident occurred in Hancock County on Mississippi Highway 43 South at about 9:32 p.m. when a man riding a bicycle turned in front of a 2003 Lincoln Town Car driven by 53 year-old Dina McMurty of Picayune, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Cpl. Johnny Poulos.

Poulos said attempts will be made until Friday to notify the next of kin. Until that time the man’s name will not be released. After Friday, the county will take the responsibility to care for the man’s remains, Poulos said.

The man’s cause of death was determined to be total massive bodily injuries, Stiglet said.

Poulos said, as with all fatal accidents, the involvement of drugs and/or alcohol is under investigation. No charges have been pressed as a result of the accident, he said.
