Jackson County supervisors have decided to allow a five-month test of a four-day work week beginning in August.

Supervisors agreed to the program Tuesday after the board attorney determines the move is legal.

Departments that have expressed an interest in participating are planning, recreation, roads, purchasing, maintenance, solid waste, finance and the tax assessor’s office.

They say said the change would extend office hours for the public in some departments, like planning, and it would allow road and maintenance crews to stay on a project longer in the four days they would be working.
