Forfeiture revenue allocated to the Hattiesburg Police Department over the past six fiscal years has amounted to nearly $1.4 million. Document show most of the money has been used to purchase new cars.

The department also used the funds for equipment along with training materials and machinery tools. Recently, the police department allocated forfeiture funds to build a car service center.

Forfeiture revenue also includes money from different state funds, not just money that is related to drug seizures. Money from processing fees and fines also is listed under forfeiture revenue.
