The county offices that are currently located at the Church of the Way just outside the Picayune city limits will be relocating two miles north on U.S. 11 to a new set of offices at Stone Plaza.

County Administrator Adrain Lumpkin said in a phone interview last week that the county hopes to have the new offices at Stone Plaza open on Monday, Nov. 5.

“We hope to move them on the weekend so there’s no interruption in services. We’ll close down on Friday (Nov. 2) in Church of the Way and open on Monday (Nov. 5) at the new building,” Lumpkin said.

District Five Supervisor Bettye Stockstill said the move to the new offices was needed.

“We just are running out of room (at Church of the Way). This way all the departments will each have their own office with its own access. It’s a brand-new building and it will serve us well,” Stockstill said.

Stockstill also said the monthly rent will be lower than the amount currently paid to Church of the Way.

The offices to be moved to Stone Plaza include Justice Court, the Tax Assessor’s office, and satellite offices of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and Department of Public Safety, including the driver’s license office.
