Authorities believe they have found the body of the missing man down stream from a from the mouth of Wilson Sough on the Pearl River.

Identification found on the body was that of Allen Breland, 49, no address given, said Lt. Eddie Laviolette with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries. The body was found Friday afternoon at about 12:15 about 50 to 60 yards from the Walkiah Bluff water diversion project through dragging operations, a week after Breland was reported to have left on his recreational trip on the Pearl River, he said.

While identification was found on the body the identification has not been confirmed by a coroner, Laviolette said.

A boat has still not been recovered from the water but it has been determined that the body recovered from the water was not wearing a lifejacket.

“All indications appear it was a boating accident,” Laviolette said.

The search for Breland began Monday after family members reported he had failed to returned from his trip. Other departments involved in the search included Mississippi Fish and Game, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Laviolette said.

Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Chief David Hribar said his department was there to support the search for Breland and has been there since 4 p.m. Monday. He said he appreciates all the time volunteer fire fighters gave in assisting the search.
