25th annual Miss Blueberry Pageant is Saturday

This Saturday, activities for one of Poplarville’s premiere events, the Blueberry Jubilee, kicks of with the pageant that selects royalty to represent the event during the coming year.

25th annual Miss Blueberry Pageant is at the Poplarville Lower Elementary School Auditorium.

The pageant begins at 8 a.m. with judging for the Baby Miss – Little Miss Blueberry categories, ages 0-9 years. At 12 p.m. the categories of Junior Miss – Miss Blueberry, ages 10-18 years, will begin.

The age divisions are:

Baby Miss Blueberry, 0-11 months* **; Toddler Miss Blueberry, 12-23 months* **; Wee Miss Blueberry, 2-3 years**; Tiny Miss Blueberry, 4-5 years**; Little Miss Blueberry, 6-9 years**; Junior Miss Blueberry, 10-12 years; Teen Miss Blueberry, 13-15 years; Miss Blueberry, 16-18 years.

(*These ages may be combined if necessary. **These age groups will not speak.)

MISS and TEEN contestants: Interviews are based on information sheet and history of Blueberry Jubilee that can be found on the Blueberry Jubilee web page.

Contestants are judged on the following areas: 0-23 months and 6-9 years: Appearance, Personality, and Presentation; 10-18 years: Appearance, Poise, Appearance, Stage Projections, and Overall Appearance. (Stage Projection – Stating name and contestant number).

All winners in each division will be awarded a crown, trophy, and Blueberry banner. The 1st and 2nd alternate in each division will also receive trophies.

Miss Blueberry is the overall queen of the Jubilee and is the official ambassador for the Jubilee throughout the coming year. The queens in all age groups participate in many parades and activities during the coming year.
