A Pearl River woman has admitted guilt in a harrowing assault case involving a knife attack on a tribal member within the Pearl River Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation.

According to court documents, Telinah Kowi Tek Farve, 25, inflicted severe bodily harm upon the tribal member in 2023 by stabbing them with a knife. Following an indictment by a federal grand jury, Farve pled guilty to the charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Farve will be sentenced on August 6, 2024, with a maximum potential penalty of ten years’ incarceration. A federal district judge will decide her sentence, taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee and Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation jointly announced the plea.

The Choctaw Police Department, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, conducted a thorough investigation into the incident.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin J. Payne and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian K. Burns led the case’s prosecution.
