Picayune man sentenced to over 13 years in prison

A Picayune man was sentenced to over 13 years in prison for trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine.

Patrick Johns, 46, of Picayune was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release on Aug. 14, after pleading guilty to drug related charges, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

On Jan. 11, of this year Johns pleaded guilty to one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

The release states that he was part of a five-person indictment that included a group of people caught distributing cocaine and methamphetamine in Picayune.

An investigation by law enforcement involved the purchase of cocaine on two occasions and the purchase of methamphetamine on two occasions from Johns, the release states.

The release further states that Johns was supplying the said drugs to a co-defendant, Antonio Irwin, who was sentenced on March 30 to 128 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Meynardie, the release states.
