A Picayune man is currently in custody after attempting to evade sheriff’s deputies who initiated a traffic stop early in the morning.

Sheriff Ricky Adam reported that deputies attempted to pull over 25-year-old Clay Necaise after he ran a stop sign in the Diamondhead area around 2:30 a.m.

Instead of complying with the deputies’ instructions, Necaise fled down Kiln-DeLisle Road to Fenton Dedeaux Road, eventually abandoning his vehicle in the Pine Hills area.

Deputies utilized a K-9 unit to track Necaise to a family member’s residence on Fenton Dedeaux Road to aid in the search. They maintained surveillance on the house until daylight, at which point they proceeded to the residence and placed Necaise under arrest.

Necaise faces charges of careless driving and failure to obey a traffic control device. He was subsequently booked into the Hancock County jail.

Sheriff Adam further revealed that Necaise is also wanted on outstanding property crime warrants from Harrison County, Mississippi, and Alabama.
