Picayune Police Execute Search Warrant, Make Arrests for Drug Possession and Distribution

Detectives with the Picayune Police Department Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at 518 SouthSide Street on Tuesday, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of narcotics and firearms.

During the operation, Denist J’marcus Brown was found near a vehicle outside the residence, on the property. Brown was found to be in possession of a distribution amount of fentanyl. Detectives subsequently located Craig Lavelle Nelson and his wife inside the residence.

A search of the premises revealed a distribution amount of marijuana and firearms. Brown was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute within 1500 feet of a church, as well as disorderly conduct.

Nelson was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm. Nelson’s wife was released from the scene.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts by the Picayune Police Department to combat drug-related crimes in the area. The investigation remains ongoing.
