As spring emerges in Mississippi, so does the return of allergy season, prompting specialists at Mississippi Asthma & Allergy Clinics statewide to advise residents to be vigilant about symptoms and seek treatment as needed.

With the rise in temperatures and the resumption of outdoor activities, seasonal allergies bring symptoms like itchy eyes, sneezing, and coughing. Mississippians are advised to seek professional diagnosis from licensed allergy and asthma physicians when experiencing these symptoms.

“Our patients have seen a lot of success in managing their allergy symptoms once diagnosed,” said Dr. Stephen LeBlanc, a physician at Mississippi Asthma & Allergy Clinic. “Recurring subcutaneous immunotherapy treatments continue to be a tried and true method for combating common allergens in our state.”

The lengthening of allergy seasons due to warming temperatures makes managing allergies increasingly important for sufferers. Dr. Lindsey McMullan, another physician at MSAAC, noted the growing number of patients seeking treatment each year. “Ever since we opened our clinic, patients have found comfort in having their symptoms expertly addressed without the need for extensive travel to consult with a specialist,” McMullan said.

Common allergens during spring include pollen, mold, pet dander, insect stings, and dust mites. To identify triggers, it is recommended to schedule an appointment with an allergy specialist.
