Joye Laverne Drummond was born on February 13, 1971 to the late Edward “Gator” McDonald

and Dixie Lee McDonald in Picayune, Mississippi. On Saturday, March 23, 2024, she entered

into a peaceful, eternal rest at the age of 53, (2 Corinthians 5:8) We are confident, I say, and

willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Joye was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dixie McDonald, granddaughter,

Aubrei McDonald, grandparents, Robert and Quillie McDonald of Shubuta, MS and Willie and

Mary Rice of Picayune, MS.

She leaves to cherish her memories: One loving daughter, Ashley McDonald, four adorable

grandchildren: Lakyra, Krystopher, and Kyreem McDonald, Kamya Smith; one devoted sister,

Toni Watts; two affectionate brothers: Edward “Gator” (Bobbie) McDonald and Charles Ray

(Ethel) McDonald, all of Picayune; a special beloved friend, John Lee; and a host of aunts,

uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home
