Picayune Shines Bright: Mayor and City Officials Spark Holiday Magic at Crosby Commons Tree Lighting Ceremony

On Monday night, Mayor Jim Luke, joined by Council Members Jan Stevens, Anna Turnage, Frank Ford, City Manager Harvey Miller, Assistant City Manager Eric Morris, Public Works Director Ronnie Spiers, and Special Projects Director Lisa Albritton, came together at Crosby Commons for the much-anticipated annual tree lighting ceremony in Picayune.

The festivities commenced with the introduction of local royalty, as Miss Pearl River County Teen Harley Holder and Miss Picayune Teen Baylee Albritton graced the stage, adding a touch of glamour to the holiday event.

Following the royal introductions, Mayor Luke welcomed Dylan Littles, a talented guitarist and singer, who led the crowd in a heartfelt prayer, setting a warm and reflective tone for the evening.

As excitement built, Mayor Luke invited special guests Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, The Grinch, and Cindy-Lou Who to join him on stage for the grand moment – the flipping of the switch to illuminate the towering Christmas tree.

The crowd erupted into cheers and applause as the tree lit the night sky. A 10-second countdown, led by the enthusiastic audience, added to the excitement and joy of the moment.

With the holiday spirit in full swing, the Pearl River County Community Band then took center stage, playing a medley of festive tunes that filled Crosby Commons with the sounds of the season. The musical performance marked the perfect conclusion to a night filled with community, joy, and the spirit of giving.
