Funeral Services for Sarah Evelyn Edwards, age 90, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Friday, October 20, 2023, will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Picayune, 401 Goodyear Boulevard, Picayune, MS 39466.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Picayune.

Bro. Seth Stanley will officiate the service.

Local arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home, Picayune, MS.

Graveside Services will be held in Edgemont Cemetery, 3555 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201, under the direction of K.L. Brown Memory Chapel, AL.

Dr. Roland Brown will officiate the graveside service.

A native of Ohatchee, AL, she started teaching school in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Seabrook, TX, Clear Lake City, TX (some of the astronauts’ kids were in her classes), Huntsville, AL, and in Picayune, MS. Evelyn primarily taught 5th grade. Her students will probably remember her for teaching Square Dance and a rhyming song to learn all 50 states. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Malvin Wells, mother, Ida Sewell Wells, sister, Joan Wells Livingston.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Billie Green Edwards; daughter, Victoria “Vickie” Edwards (Joe) Brock; and nieces, Minida (Royal) Dowdy and Leigh Ann Livingston.
