Lisa Bagley, a first grade teacher at Poplarville Lower Elementary was chosen as this week’s Nissan of Picayune Teacher of the Week.
She teachers reading, writing, math, language, science and social studies to her students.
Lisa has been teaching for 20 years, 13 of those years were with the Poplarville School District. In that time she also taught kindergarten, but spent the majority of her years teaching first graders.
She says that teaching young people is challenging and rewarding. “Seeing them grow in knowledge from the beginning of the year to the end of school makes all the planning, research and preparation so worth it in the end,” she said. “I love their eagerness and most of all seeing those ‘light bulb’ moments.”
She said seeing those moments on her students’ faces is when she knows she is making a difference in their lives.
An interesting fact she would like to share is that she met her husband at Walmart. They have been married for 25 years and she is a mother to three children, Layne and Landry who are 20-years-old and Lana, who is 17.
She also teaches Sunday School and enjoys singing at her church. Lisa also loves shopping online and enjoying vacations on the beach.
