Unnamed Picayune resident dies in two vehicle collision

Update 6-16-20:The man who died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident described below was identified as 68-year-old Jerry Frierson of Picayune.

A Picayune resident who is currently not been named has died as a result of injuries sustained in a two vehicle collision Sunday morning.
According to a release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at 12:49 a.m. on June 14 in Hancock County along Highway 603. Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash at Shiyou Rd., where they learned that a Picayune resident had died.
Preliminary investigation by State Troopers determined a northbound Jeep crossed the center line and collided with a south bound Chevrolet pickup. The driver of the Jeep was pronounced deceased, and a passenger was transported to an area hospital via helicopter for treatment of life threatening injuries. The collision is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the release states.
The identity of the deceased will be released pending notification of the next of kin.
