Three vehicle collision injures two, no deaths

A three-vehicle collision on Interstate 59 Monday afternoon left one person with major injuries. No fatalities were reported as a result of the collision.

The collision occurred when the driver of a southbound a 2005 Toyota Highlander in the left hand lane lost control of his vehicle near mile marker 9 on I59 and collided with a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado at 4:27 p.m., said Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Dustin Moeller.

The impact to the Chevrolet Silverado caused it to impact a AAA ambulance.
The Chevrolet Silverado and Toyota Highlander both rolled multiple times before both vehicles came to rest in the median, said Moeller.

The driver of the Toyota Highlander was transported by ambulance to Highland Community Hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was airlifted to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg with major injuries, but is listed as being in stable condition, said Moeller. Neither the driver or passenger in the ambulance suffered injuries and the damage to the ambulance was minor.

The Picayune Police Department is still investigating the collision.
