The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an incident that left two people dead and one injured Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, the department responded to 55 Bennett Apartment Road. Upon arrival, deputies found that three people had suffered wounds from gunfire, two of which had passed away and one who had been wounded but was still alive, said Maj. Marc Ogden.

One of the home’s residents, Amos Bennet, 68, was transported by AAA Ambulance to an area hospital to receive medical attention for his wounds, while the home’s other resident Leslie Anne Bennett, 66, was determined to be deceased when deputies arrived at the scene.

Brian Scott Kennedy, 49, of 1637 Highway 11 S., was also found deceased at the scene, said Ogden.

Both Kennedy and Leslie Bennett appeared to have died from multiple gunshot wounds, said Ogden. Amos Bennett is recovering from his injuries at an undisclosed medical facility.

No arrests have been made at this time, but the incident is currently under investigation, said Ogden.

According to previous coverage, this is the third homicide along Bennett Apartment Road since 2017. In August of 2017, 43-year-old Jodi Wilson, of 15 Bennett Apartment Rd., was found floating in a pond near her home. An investigation later determined that her manner of death was due to homicide.

That case is still under investigation. Ogden said the Wilson case and Sunday’s incident are unrelated.
