George Allan Barrentine

George Allan Barrentine, 88, a long-time resident of San Antonio, TX and current resident of Flowood, MS, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019, in Flowood. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with interment at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am Wednesday.
Mr. Barrentine was born December 12, 1931 to Allan Nason Barrentine and Lorina Moss Barrentine. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was later married to Carolyn McKinney Barrentine. Mr. Barrentine loved the Lord and enjoyed serving others through his faith. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and previously served as youth leader-MYF at First United Methodist Church in Picayune, MS. George served on the board of Southwest Electric Energy, Inc., and enjoyed volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Civitan Club, and Optimist Club. He loved serving with Amazon Outreach digging water wells in the Amazon Basin. George never missed an opportunity to pull a good joke on any unsuspecting person. He loved his family very much, and spending time with them brought great joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn McKinney Barrentine; daughter, Carrie Barrentine Dunfee (Paul); son, George W. Barrentine; grandchildren, Leslie Barrentine Faulkenbery, Lana Barrentine Purvis (Dale), Jon Lewis Barrentine; great-grandchildren, Farrah Faulkenbery, Ty Faulkenbery, Olivia Purvis, and Wyatt Purvis; and a host of friends.
