The annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be held Thursday at the Link and will feature breakfast paired with scripture readings.

The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and runs until 9:00 a.m. This year’s theme, “Love One Another,” was chosen to coincide with the theme of the National Day of Prayer.

Community members along with state, local and federal officials are invited to attend, said Picayune Mayor Ed Pinero. Breakfast is provided by the First Baptist Church men’s group.

The event is the brainchild of Rev. Allen Hickman of Resurrection Life Church. The goal of the event is to spread positive words and enrich peoples’ lives during the National Day of Prayer, Pinero said.

The Mayor will give a short speech and retired Navy chaplain Carrey Robertson will also speak, Hickman said.

A turnout of a few hundred people is expected and the event continues to grow each year, Pinero said. In the past, attendees have come from as far away as Hancock County and Forrest County.
