An abandoned vehicle in the roadway led to the arrest of the vehicle’s owner after detectives with the Picayune Police Department investigated the matter further.
According to a departmental release, the vehicle was found abandoned in the area of Morris Street and Neal Road, parked so it was blocking traffic, on Nov. 6 just before 1 p.m.
A search of the area of Morris Street found the owner of the vehicle, determined to be 21-year-old Demond Lamont McGill Jr., of 205 N. Delano Dr., standing in the doorway of a home on that street. Detectives noticed that McGill was holding a digital scale and had what appeared to be marijuana on the front of his shirt. A search of the area where McGill was standing located several bags containing a substance suspected to be high grade marijuana, which further investigation determined McGill was allegedly trying to sell, the release states.
McGill was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a church, the release states.
