Animal Adoption Society seeks foster parents

The non-profit animal rescue group Animal Adoption Society Inc., is currently seeking people to provide temporary care for four mix-breed dogs that need fostering.

AAS President Evelyn Agnelly said all four dogs have been neutered, and are up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm medication. The adoption fee for each dog is $125, she said.

Agnelly said most pets that wind up in their care are often abandoned by previous owners, so the group is constantly searching for people who are patient with animals and willing to care for them with minimal supervision.

It is important that fosters provide the animals with the best care possible until a permanent family is found, she said.

Agnelly said the group regularly needs volunteers to help with fundraising and adoption events year round.

Volunteers can assist with the group’s adoption day held at Picayune’s Walmart every third Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

AAS also needs volunteers for the biannual garage sales held in the spring and fall, she said. The group is accepting donations for the annual online auction to be held in November and can use volunteers to help acquire donations and advertise the auction, Agnelly said.
