A Carriere man was recently arrested for sexual battery against a minor, Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said.

Ogden said on July 17 they responded to a complaint that a minor had been molested. The suspect was identified as Aubry David Burkhamer, 62, 43 Jamie Road, Carriere. Ogden said Burkhamer was brought in for questioning on July 19. After his interview, deputies placed him under arrest for one count of sexual battery, Ogden said.

Ogden said he was booked into the Pearl River County jail. His initial appearance is set for July 21, during which he will have a bond set, Ogden said.

Ogden said because the case involves a minor, he cannot go into further detail. However, he said that according to their records, Burkhamer did not have any prior offenses.
