Operation Spring Cleaning continues

During the past two weeks, multiple arrests were made in relation to the Picayune Police Department’s ongoing Operation Spring Cleaning.

According to a departmental release, on April 19 at about 2 p.m., Picayune Police Narcotics Detectives intercepted a package containing several controlled substances. The package had been dropped off at a local shipping business with an out-of-state destination. Inside the package, detectives found a plastic bag with 15 orange capsules hidden in a wadded up piece of paper, the release states. Detectives believed the pills were 30-milligram tablets of Adderall.

According to the release, detectives learned that the suspect tried to sell the narcotics by mailing them to someone out-of-state. The suspect was identified as Stacy Masoner Simoneaux, 53, 661 Savannah Millard Rd., Poplarville. Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators joined the detectives and went to the suspect’s residence, the release states.

Once law enforcement arrived at Simoneaux’s home, she was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 ft. of a church and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance within 1,500 ft. of a church, the release states.

On April 23, two more arrests were made as a result of the operation. According to a departmental release, after receiving multiple complaints about narcotics being used at a local motel, narcotics detectives with the police department and Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant, the release states. During the search, two suspects, identified as James Douglas Owens, 33, 55 HK Lewis Rd., Carriere and Kathy Dianne Owens, 54, 54 HK Lewis Rd., Carriere were found in the home.

Detectives noticed that James and Kathy’s eyes were dilated and they were experiencing sporadic body movements, which are symptoms consistent with the use of methamphetamine, the release states.

While the officers searched the home, detectives found a bag of what they believed to be methamphetamine. According to the release, a metal spoon with a burnt residue hidden inside a nearby purse was also located. Both suspects denied that they were in possession of the narcotics or paraphernalia, the release states.

According to the release, James Owens and Kathy Owens were both placed under arrest for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

While conducting initial searches, correction officers discovered a bag of what was believed to be methamphetamine hidden on James Owens’ body, the release states. He was further arrested for felony introduction of contraband into a jail facility.

According to an additional release, several more warrants were served and arrests made under the operation, including:

Donald Cooper Sr., 55, 1223 Kingsway Dr., Apt F-22, Picayune; arrested April 16, for outstanding warrants including two counts of sale of a controlled substance and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.

Talitha Ann Longyear, 31, 1200 Holly St., Apt 1, Picayune; arrested April 17, for warrants for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and for prostitution.

Tomara Lynn East-Holloway, 47, 24 Hayes Lane, Picayune; arrested April 19, for warrants for a sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 ft. of a church and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance within 1,500 ft. of a church.

Jessica Lynn Morano, 37, 177 Westchester Dr., Picayune; arrested, April 24 for warrants for sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 ft. of a church and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance within 1,500 ft. of a church.
