June Cash Lawrence

Poplarville resident, June Lawrence, passed away in her home March 11, 2018 following an extended battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

A native of Tyler, Texas, she was born Gloria June Cash in Buras, Louisiana, in 1940, to Mr. and Mrs. William R. Cash.

June was a graduate of Tyler Junior College, Stephen F. Austin State University and did doctoral studies in Educational Administration at the University of New Orleans. She taught English and writing at Tyler Junior College and Southern University.

In the 70’s, she started a new business for campus needs called College Books that still serves students at Tyler Junior College. For several years, she worked for Squibb Pharmaceuticals as the first female drug representative the company hired.

June was a member of First Baptist Church, Poplarville, where she sang in the sanctuary choir. She was a patron of all art forms and loved world travel.

She is preceded in death by her parents. June is survived by her husband, Everett Lawrence of Poplarville, Mississippi; sisters Dr. Jane Rogers of Florida and Rose Daniels of California; daughters Darla Landig of Dallas, Texas and Rhonda Ducote of Tyler, Texas; and grandson Denton Ducote, of Tyler, Texas.
