Charles “Charlie” David Jeffcoat, Sr., age 77, of Carriere, Mississippi passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018.

Mr. Jeffcoat, formerly of Buras, Louisiana, was a resident of Pearl River County for 27 years, a truck driver, and a member of Union Baptist Church. He loved horses, was the President of PPSP for three years, NRA member for 33 years and supported local auctions. He loved deer hunting and was known as the “Doe Slayer”, guns, horses, trail riding, and team penning. He also enjoyed Cracker Barrel, DQ dipped cones, John Wayne, Westerns, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Big Valley, Sam Elliot, Tom Selleck, and Blue Bloods. He loved to listen to Gaither Vocal Band and Homecomings, Michael Bolton, George Jones, and Willie Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years and 11 months, best friend of 32 years, Windy Hess Jeffcoat of Carriere; sons, Charles David Jeffcoat, Jr and his wife Tina of Carriere, and Kevin T. Jeffcoat and his wife Tracy of Gretna, Louisiana; daughter, Dawn J. Serpas and her husband Tommy of Belle Chasse, Louisiana; step-daughters, Rachel G. Tankersley and her husband, Eric of Plaquemine, Louisiana, and Rachelle G. Suir and her husband Glenn of Lafayette, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Nicole J. Vera (Macedonio) of Gulfport, Lacey J. Lee (Nicky) of Picayune, Stephen Jeffcoat (Katie) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Danielle J. Wilson (Adam) of Brooklyn, New York, Megan S. Lacoste (Cory) of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, Calleigh G. Suir of Lafayette, Louisiana, Destiny Tankersley of Plaquemine, Louisiana, and Daniel Tankersley of Plaquemine, Louisiana; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton, Clayton, and Brooklyn Lee, Alejandro, Rosa, Sofia, and Simon Vera.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clemon D. Jeffcoat and Della M. Jeffcoat; daughter, Wanda A. Jeffcoat; brother, Randy W. Jeffcoat; sister, Doris J. Tarter; father-in-law, Blue Hess, Sr; mother-in-law, Anna Buras Acereto; and step-father-in-law, Alfonso Acereto.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with Bro. Nicky Lee officiating.

Burial will be at Union Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
