PRC and Poplarville softball teams win on the road; Picayune falls at home against St. Martin

The Lady Devils remain undefeated in district play after defeating the Lady Jaguars 7-0 Thursday night.

Two runs each from Taylor Kauzlarich, Madison Gower, Alahna Lee and one from Jayden Davis gave Pearl River Central (16-2, 3-0 Region 7-5A) the victory.

Lady Devils Head Coach Tony LaBella said the runs were scored between the first, fifth and seventh inning.

PRC’s Gower went 1-for-2 with a homerun and two RBIs, Shelby Archer was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Kauzlarich batted 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Jade Latham pitched the entire game and only allowed three hits and struck out 17 batters.

PRC will host the Lady Devil Tournament Saturday morning. The team will resume district play Monday when it travels to Hattiesburg.

— Poplarville softball: The Lady Hornets earned a key district victory Thursday night defeating the Lady Tornadoes 10-1.

Poplarville (12-7, 4-3 Region 7-4A) scored two runs in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh inning and one in the first and third inning.

For the Lady Hornets, Madison Pittman scored twice and Hannah Blanchard, Harley Blanchard, Karlee Rodriguez, Kayleigh Netto, Janna Peterson, Lana Welborn, Cassidy Cartwright and Aislynn Andrews each scored once.

At the plate, Manya Gilmore went 1-for-4 with three RBIs, Netto batted 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Andrews was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Hannah Blanchard and Cartwright also had an RBI each.

Gracie Raby and Victoria Pertuit shared pitching duties against Purvis. Raby played four innings and allowed three hits, one run and struck out three batters. Pertuit pitched three innings and struck out two batters.

Poplarville will compete in the Lady Devil Tournament at Pearl River Central Saturday morning. The team will then travel to Forrest County Agricultural Monday night.

— Picayune softball: Picayune lost 7-3 against St. Martin Thursday night in a non-region game.

The Lady Tide (2-16, 1-2 Region 7-5A) will play against St. Martin and Harrison Central at West Harrison High School Saturday. The team will resume district play when it hosts Hattiesburg Tuesday night and North Pike Thursday night.
