Funeral Services for Gordon Carpenter, age 85, of Picayune, Mississippi, who passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018, on his 62nd wedding anniversary, will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 2:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home. 

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

A native of Tibbie, Alabama, he served in the US Navy Seabees during the Korean War. Gordon was a retired iron worker of Union Local # 58, New Orleans, Louisiana. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and gardening. Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Madison “Matt” Carpenter and Mary “Mamie” Singleton Carpenter; Grandchildren, Alex Lee and Blake Carpenter; his sister, Fannie (Bob) Montgomery; and his brothers, Michael Carpenter, Floyd Carpenter, Madison Carpenter, and Truman Carpenter.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Maggie Lee Tate Carpenter; his children, Charlotte (Dexter) Bassett, Jimmie Carpenter, Timothy (Robin) Carpenter, and Theresa (Tom) Milar; eight grandchildren, Micholas Carpenter, Cedric Carpenter, Christy (Anthony) Weekly, Billi Jo (Mark) Ray, Amy Carpenter, Crystal (Wes) Lucus, Brandon (Jade) Carpenter, and Chase Lee; 13 great grandchildren; onw great, great grandson; his sisters, Drula (Evon) Sullivan, Twinette Langham, and Alice Parker; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
