Search for Picayune resident comes to an end

After a three-week investigation, the search for a Picayune resident has ended when she was arrested in the state of Georgia.

Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Department in Georgia arrested Payton Colon, 19, of 220A Dozier St. of Picayune on March 13. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Ogden said information regarding the controlled substance was not given by the law enforcement agency in Georgia.

According to previous coverage, the Sheriff’s Department put a warrant out for Colon’s arrest after their investigation showed Colon allegedly helped Dalton Jaymes Jordan, 16, hide from local authorities.

Ogden said the Sheriff’s Department is currently waiting for Colon to be extradited back to Pearl River County on a warrant for hindering prosecution.

Also, Ogden said Jordan arrived to Pearl River County Friday after being extradited from Kissimmee, Fla.

According to previous coverage, Jordan was wanted on warrants that included grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny, three counts of possession of a weapon after a felony conviction and causing or directing a juvenile to commit a felony crime. Jordan turned himself in to local authorities in Kissimmee, Fla., on Feb. 28.

He is considered an adult due to prior convictions, according to previous coverage.
