Volunteer agencies respond to Carriere blaze

On February 16, 2018, the Carriere Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a fully involved building fire, located at 6Burgetown Road in Carriere, Mississippi. The call was initially reported by the neighbor, Ms. Jennifer Penton, of 59 BurgetownRoad.  The property is owned by Ms. Robin Loustalot, also of Carriere.

Carriere Fire Department Engine 1 arrived on the fire scene at 3:15 a.m. to find a small wood framed wooden dwelling completely in flames. The involved building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The Incident Commander, Deputy Fire Chief Don Mieger requested mutual aid assistance. The responding mutual aid units were from Henleyfield V.F.D, McNeil V.F.D, and Pine Grove V.F.D. Equipment onscene included a total of seven pieces of fire apparatus, and 17 members of the combined fire department personnel. Additionally, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department sent four patrol units to assist. Pearl River County Fire Marshal, Albert Lee also responded.

The fire scene was extinguished at 4:30. There were no fatalities or reported injuries because of the fire. Damage was estimated at $10,000 to the structure and property.

The cause of the fire currently remains under investigation.
