Doris Louise Traylor

Doris Louise Traylor, a longtime resident of Poplarville, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Doris was born June 4, 1942 in Seminary, Mississippi to Lowell O. and Sarah Arlene Leaman Lofton. She was a graduate of Oak Grove High School and Pearl River Community College. Doris was employed with Pearl River Community College and retired as a business manager with the Poplarville School District in 2002. She was an active member of Juniper Grove Baptist Church, teaching the Ruth Sunday School Class and a longtime music minister. She married Wendell Traylor on July 1, 1962.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Richard Wendell Traylor, Jr.; and two brothers, Louie Lofton and Richard Lofton.

Family members include her husband of 55 years, Wendell Traylor; two daughters, Angie Smith and her husband Tony; Sharon Nightengale and her husband, Jim, III; two sisters, Rosemary Pittman and her husband, Donald, Linda Burnham; one brother, Ed Lofton and his wife, Barbara; one sister-in-law, Jeanna Lofton; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Juniper Grove Baptist Church, 289 Juniper Grove Road, Poplarville, MS, 39470 on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 3:00 pm. Rev. Ken Rhodes and Rev. Breaux Tageant will officiate the service. Burial will be in Ladner-Muckelrath Cemetery, 2 Ladner Lane, Purvis, Mississippi, 39475 at 4:30 pm. The family will receive friends and have visitation from 1:30 pm until services, Sunday at the church.
