Two individuals were arrested for separate offenses after officers noticed a vehicle intentionally avoid a routine safety checkpoint.
According to a report filed with the Picayune Police Department, officers conducting a checkpoint on Dec. 12, just after 11 p.m. noticed a vehicle turn onto a nearby road and stop.
As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver, Philip Andrew Milner, 35, of 29 Sam Powell Rd., told the officer that he pulled off the road to check on the vehicle’s engine. When asked to provide his driver’s license and proof of insurance, Milner was unable to provide the driver’s license, the report states. A check of the status of his license determined it was suspended due to a DUI, the report states.
Milner was then arrested for driving while license suspended for DUI, and the officer asked Victoria Eleanor Coco, 27, of 88 McNeill McHenry Rd., Poplarville, to exit the passenger side of the vehicle. While checking the contents of her purse, the officer found two syringes, and a pill holder containing a bag with a crystal residue and two pills later identified as methlphenidat, leading to Coco being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, the report states.
While being booked into the jail, a third syringe was found on Coco’s person, the report states.
