Pelican Urgent Care will hold its grand opening and first blood drive event Jan. 30.
The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Pelican Urgent Care employee Brooke Stevenson said Pelican Urgent Care opened its doors in Picayune in September and has not held a grand opening event since. The opportunity to host a blood drive led Pelican Urgent Care to turn two events into one.
The grand opening event will give the community an opportunity to learn more about the services Pelican Urgent Care offers by interacting with Pelican Urgent Care health care providers. During the event, the medical facility will also hand out “goody” bags and provide hamburgers to attendees.
During the grand opening, Pelican Urgent Care will also host its first blood drive at the clinic, Nurse Practitioner Brittany Shaw said.
Currently, about 30 people have signed up for the blood drive. Anyone interested in signing up to donate blood, can contact Pelican Urgent Care. Shaw said the first 50 blood donors will receive a Pelican Urgent Care T-shirt.
Since the grand opening and blood drive take place during business hours, Stevenson said the medical facility will continue to provide health care services to patients.
According to previous coverage, Pelican Urgent Care in Picayune is the second location of the medical facility; the first is located in Slidell, La. The facility offers medical services ranging from treating cold symptoms to performing x-rays.
Pelican Urgent Care is located at 1839 Cooper Rd., Suite 100 and can be contacted at (769) 242-1700.
