The Millbrook Golf Club of Picayune is organizing a 3-person scramble/shamble on Sunday, Feb. 4 at noon in an effort to raise funds for the Pearl River County SPCA.

Patrick Collins, Millbrook Golf Club House manager, said the purpose of the event is to collect donations, food, towels and other supplies that can benefit animals at the shelter. Anyone interested in helping but is unable to bring supplies can contribute $5 per head.

The event invites people from the community for a front 9 Scramble-Back 9 Shamble.

A scramble involves a team of three where each player hits a tee shot on each hole and everyone plays from the spot of the best shot until the ball is holed out.

The shamble requires each player hit a tee shot on each hole and everyone plays their own ball from the team’s best tee shot.

Collins said the event will include flights of team handicaps and the number of flights will be based on participation.

“Players over 60 will get a chance to play gold tees and those over 75 will get a chance to play red tees,” Collins said.

The entry fee for participation is $195 per team and $65 per player and will include food and beverages and a square in the football pool.
