Lady Blue Devils beat Lady Maroon Tide, Tide beats Devils

CARRIERE — The Lady Devils basketball team earned its first district victory of the season after defeating Picayune 39-33 in a game that came down to the wire.

With the game tied at 22 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, successful free throws from PRC players decided the game. The Lady Devils shot 10-for-13 from the line and outscored the Lady Maroon Tide 17-11 in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Picayune’s boys basketball team defeated the Blue Devils 62-42 and also earned its first district victory of the season, after falling against Hattiesburg earlier in the week.

Midway through the second quarter, a three pointer by Marvun Arnold extended Picayune’s lead to double-digits.
